Current Projects

"Bird-Songs"

A project which will use the song-writing process to help UK prisoners and young offenders explore their creativity and develop their social and communication skills through a national competition. Each participant will be required to compose an original song, either as a solo project or collaboration. At the end of this journey five songs will be reassessed by the judging panel to decide the overall winner.  Prizes of instruments, sheet music and books relating to the music industry will be provided to the facility in which the winner resides.  The main aim of this major activity is to promote equal opportunities to a diverse prison and young offender population, who are specifically experiencing social and institutional barriers.  Bird-Songs will follow the journey of the songwriter(s) and aim to encourage creativity, communication, social skills, flexibility of ideas, and emphasise rehabilitation through educational practice.  We have the supportive interest, of Cherry Red Records, NOMs, Arts Council England, The Music Producer’s Guild, The Music Publisher’s Association, Inside Time and The Prison Radio Network.

“The Art of Song-Writing” - Educational DVD

Discussions have taken place with Banyak Films to produce, in partnership with us, an educational DVD on the subject of song-writing which we aim to distribute free of charge to schools and colleges throughout the United Kingdom.

 “Local Workshops”

Configured as smaller song-writing workshops hosted by an established song-writer from the music industry, these events will provide young and/or socially excluded individuals the opportunity to understand the creative process of song-writing and also network with other participants.
